The discussion on art and culture of Bihar will be based on ancient to modern Bihar.Culturally,Bihar, is divided into four regions namely (1) Magadha (2)Angika (3)Maithli and (4) Bhojpuri.I will draw your attentions on these four regions individually.Basically, all districts of Bihar is within these four regions.First of all,I will start my discussions on Magadha Region.Ancient Magadh has nine dynasties namely
MAGADHA REGION
(1)Brihdratha dynasty
(2)Pradyota dynasty
(3) Haryanka dynasty
(4)Shishunaga dynasty
(5)Nanda dynasty
(6) Maurya dynasty
(7) Sunga dynasty
(8) Kanva dynasty
(9) Gupta dynasty
(1)BRIHDRATHA DYNASTY:-According to Vayu and Matsya Puran's,the Magadh Empire was founded by Brihdratha dynasty.Brihdratha was the first prominent and powerful emperor of Magadh. He was descendants of emperor Kuru.He was blessed with one of the legendary and mythical son Jarasandha who was later on slained by Bhim.Vayu puran further states that this dynasty ruled for 1000 years.Emperor Jarasandha had a very good relation with Shishupala(Chedi King),Duryodhana(Kuru king) and Anga naresh Karna.Indian civilization was always lured for the attainment of great physical strength through physical exercises. This was attained through so many arts like racing, archery, swimming, wrestling and hunting.Jarasandha was the great champion of wrestling. In Rajgir we can still visit Jarasandha ka Akhara(this was the Runbhoomi where Bhim and Jarasandha fought),Pippala Cave also known as Jarasandha ki baithak and Swarn bhandar(there is a script written on a code , supposed to be the code to unlock the door). Mahabharata states that Jarasandha ruled all over India and met with discourteous and informal end.
